Your team at Seven Hills Veterinary Hospital has compiled a list of our favorite pet-friendly, fall activities here in Front Range Colorado:
- Hiking – Everybody knows that colorado and hiking go together like peanut butter and jelly! Grab your pup and hit one of the many dog-friendly trails in the Denver/Aurora area. Be sure to follow all safety precautions before heading into the backcountry with your dog.
- Camping – There’s still plenty of time for camping before winter sets in. From rugged backpacking to luxurious “glamping”, Colorado has it all, and much of it is pet-friendly. Don’t forget that the golden rule of camping, “pack it in, pack it out” goes for pet waste too!
- Agility parks – Not too hot and not too cold, autumn is the perfect time to try agility training with your dog at one of the many Denver area agility training parks. Agility training supports bonding between you and your dog while engaging his or her natural hunting and seeking instincts. Bonus: both you and your pup will burn plenty of calories participating in this vigorous sport.
- Dog parks – If you have a four-legged social butterfly on your hands, chances are you have already visited a dog park or two. Take advantage of the beautiful weather and expand your dog’s horizons by visiting a park you’ve never been to before.
- Color/tree drives – There’s something magical about a quiet drive through a grove of spectacular fall foliage with a car-loving dog. With five different elevations/climate zones within a two-hour drive of each other, our beautiful metropolis boasts one of the lengthiest fall color periods of any city in the country. Map out your route and hop in the car with your best pal for a day of beauty that only Colorado can offer.
- Play dates – Treat the social pets in your neighborhood to a backyard pet party! Whip up a batch of DIY pet treats, set out some water bowls (and maybe a little cider for the humans?) and invite the neighbors and their pets over for an afternoon of fun.
There are countless opportunities to bond with your pet and enjoy our beautiful corner of the world. Happy fall!
