Dr. Demey’s Veterinary Outreach Work in Ecuador
Dr. Matthew Demey recently volunteered with Amici Cannis Hospital de Animales, a nonprofit veterinary hospital serving pets and communities throughout Ecuador.
Orthopedic injuries are common in this region, but access to specialized veterinary surgical care can be limited. Many treatable injuries may otherwise result in amputation due to a lack of available orthopedic expertise.
To help support local veterinary teams, Dr. Demey provided hands-on orthopedic surgery training designed to help veterinarians develop advanced surgical skills and improve patient outcomes.

During his visit, Dr. Demey conducted an intensive orthopedic training program that included:
